Lorem Ipsum generator

This generator produces Lorem Ipsum placeholder text as paragraphs, standalone sentences, individual words, or list items. Pick a type, set a count from 1 to 100, choose whether the output opens with the classic "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." line, and optionally wrap the result in HTML tags before dropping it into a mockup or template.

How the text is built

Every word is drawn from the same 69-word pool used in the traditional Lorem Ipsum passage, a scrambled fragment of Latin derived from Cicero: words like dolor, consectetur, and laborum recur throughout, picked in a different random order each time. A paragraph runs 5 to 8 sentences, and each sentence holds 8 to 15 words; a standalone sentence follows that same 8-to-15-word range on its own. List items are shorter, 3 to 6 words each, with the first word capitalized. When "Start with Lorem ipsum..." is switched on, paragraph and sentence output opens with the fixed line "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit," and word-count output opens with the first five words of that line instead; list items always start with a random word no matter how this toggle is set. Regenerate reruns the same type, count, and toggle settings with a fresh set of random words. A copy button next to the result copies the generated text in one click.

Worked example

Setting the type to Sentences and the count to 3, with the opening line switched on, produces something close to this:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit sed do eiusmod.
Tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua ut enim ad minim.
Veniam quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea.

Because every word after the fixed opener is chosen at random from the same pool, the exact wording changes on each generation or regeneration, while the sentence count and the 8-to-15-word range per sentence stay fixed.

Plain text versus HTML output

Turning on "Include HTML tags" only changes paragraph and list output. A two-item list with the toggle off reads as two plain lines, for example "Lorem ipsum dolor." followed by "Sit amet consectetur." With the toggle on, that same list becomes an unordered list, with each line wrapped as its own list item, ready to paste directly into a template. Sentence and word output stays plain text either way, since the toggle has no effect on those two types.
